‘One Piece' manga announces new hiatus due to live-action second season
Eiichiro Oda wants to oversee the Netflix series to keep it up to par with the series and maintain the level of other content like ‘One Piece Fan Letter’.
In addition to the 6-month break for the anime, ‘One Piece’ has just announced a two-week break for the manga. And as usual, Eiichiro Oda has chosen to do this on the eve of a big moment: Luffy’s meeting with Loki, the reincarnation of the Norse God, on the island of Elbaph. Thus, chapter 1.131 will be delayed until November 10th, 2024. But don’t worry, there’s good news in between.
The reason for the break is that Oda wants to get involved in the second season of the live-action and wants to spend a few days supervising Netflix to make sure that everything is done as well as in the first season. The author sets the bar very high for all derivative products, such as ‘One Piece Fan Letter,’ the short film on Netflix and Crunchyroll celebrating the 25th anniversary of the series, which has been hailed as a work of art and the best anime special in history, rated even higher than the final chapter of ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’.
“ONE PIECE will be on hiatus during issues 48 and 49 of Weekly Shonen Jump due to the author’s involvement in season 2 of the live-action version,” the series’ official account announced on its social media.
The news comes as the manga begins the Elbaf arc and Luffy faces Loki in a memorable panel. Also, the rewards have just been updated and the new wanted posters are so over the top that the community has already taken to the streets with torches to hold Oda accountable.
