Overwatch 2 Season 4: all details, skins and start date

Blizzard’s team-based shooter enters its fourth season, introducing a new character and new game modes for the coming months.

Next week marks the start of a new season in Overwatch 2. Nearly six months into this new season format, we have seen some significant changes to the game’s roadmap and content arrivals. This season is notable for the announcement of a new character, Lifeweaver, as well as a series of planned events that will continue throughout the season. Prior to the announcement, we were able to get a sneak peek at what to expect this season.

Lifeweaver, a new support character

Although the Support category is still the one with the fewest characters, its value became more significant when the jump to Overwatch 2 was made. This time we have a new character, Lifeweaver, who is originally from Thailand and shares a history with Symmetra, both being students at the same university.

During our testing time, playing with Lifeweaver was an interesting experience, testing his powers and thinking about his potential to be a disruptive character on the battlefield. While his main role is as a support character, healing teammates with his Healing Flower, his offensive potential with Thorn Bolt is striking. Her main power is to charge up a lotus flower and then throw it at her teammates; it’s not a fast and constant healing process like Mercy or Moira, but it does the job. As for Thorn Volley, this attack is reminiscent of Halo’s Needler, as it is a quick and well-placed shot that can easily take down an attack or support character.

As for his other moves, we have Petal Platform, which, as its name suggests, creates a platform where it is placed. The moment a player climbs on it, it will rise. Its potential to move around the map easily or to get out of the way of an enemy character depends on the skill of each player. On the other hand, we have Life Grip, which will allow us to rescue a teammate while they are covered in a sphere of light and avoid damage. Lifeweaver also has Rejuvenating Dash, which not only allows you to slide and avoid danger (or speed up your arrival at another point), but also regenerates your character’s health a bit.

Finally, his ultimate power, Tree of Life, as the name suggests, creates a tree of light that covers an area and allows allies to heal. Think of Zenyatta’s Transcendence power, but it stays at a fixed point. This is a power that, in the final push of a charge, will be critical to achieving your goal...no matter of which side you’re on.

What’s in store for us in Overwatch 2 Season 4?

Season 4 will be accompanied by the return of the Space Opera Battle Pass with its 80 tiers of rewards. We will be able to get new skins and poses for Doomfist, Kiriko, Mercy, Lifeweaver, Hanzo, D. Va, and Ana, among others. New skins will be available for Zenyatta, Roadhoag, Junkrat, Lifeweaver, and Widowmaker. As part of this Battle Pass, Sigma will have the mythic skin of Galactic Emperor Sigma, sharing an entire set with Soldier 76, Mercy, and Sojourn.
