Palworld director speaks about the game coming to other platforms like Nintendo Switch and PS5

The year 2024 began with Palworld taking everyone by surprise, what was known at the time as “Pokémon with guns” seemed like it was going to be a meme more than a notable game, but it ended up being a title that stormed through the internet, capturing everyone’s attention. Huge sales figures and concurrent players numbers, the latter of which continue to be outstanding today but are far from their brilliant start.

The CEO of Pocketpair and director of Palworld is Takuro Mizobe, and in a recent interview with Bloomberg he spoke about the possibility of the successful game reaching other platforms beyond Steam and Xbox Game Pass. He did not mention any specific console, but the most logical thing is to think that he is referring to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, so the conversations that Mizobe confirmed to be having could take the game to Sony and Nintendo’s systems.

The possible landing of Palworld on other consoles

The arrival of Palworld to Nintendo Switch would take many by surprise, as The Pokémon Company has even launched a statement in which they warned that they intended to investigate and “take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to the Pokémon. We will continue to cherish and nurture each and every Pokémon and its world, and work to bring the world together through Pokémon in the future.”

Takuro Mizobe not only spoke in the interview about talks for Palworld to reach other platforms but also confirmed that Pocketpair is open to being bought. The latter is notable, as it is a small studio that, despite the enormous success of its title, seems to be clear that its long-term viability is through a process of this type. We will have to see what happens, as if it is acquired, its arrival on other platforms could change.
