Palworld expands its universe with a dating simulator that’s no joke
Pocketpair expands the Palworld universe with an unexpected dating simulator that promises romance and surprising choices.
Japanese studio Pocketpair, responsible for the successful and controversial Palworld, has surprised the community with an unexpected announcement: Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating simulator set in the same universe. Although the announcement was made on March 31st, just before April Fool’s Day, the developer has confirmed that the project is real and on its way.
The idea for this spin-off seems to have been born out of a joke made by the team itself on April 1, 2024, when they presented More Than Just Pals as a fictional game designed to amuse fans. However, either because of the great reception or because of the evolution of their own vision, Pocketpair decided to make this concept a reality.
A real spin-off or an elaborate joke?
While such an announcement might have been taken for granted at any other time, the proximity of April 1st - a date when jokes are not expected - has caused skepticism among fans, who received the news with caution.
The game’s official Steam page is now live and reveals some interesting details. According to the official description, “You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy,” an official description from Pocketpair said. “You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It’s up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them.”
For now, Palworld! More Than Just Pals will be released on PC via Steam, although a release date has not yet been announced. This spin-off marks a significant expansion of the Palworld universe, which celebrated its first anniversary in January and continues to evolve with new updates on the way.
