‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 begins filming very soon, but it’s still far from release
John Cena has revealed that the team is headed to the set once again very soon, with filming for Peacemaker S2 set to extend until the end of this year.
James Gunn’s reins over DC productions have paid off. Not only was it worth it with an excellent reboot through ‘The Suicide Squad’, but from that group emerged one of the best-reviewed superhero shows of recent years. ‘Peacemaker’ captured the attention of critics and audiences after its premiere in 2022. However, the second season will still take a while to premiere.
John Cena, the actor behind the violent anti-hero, has revealed that Season 2 of ‘Peacemaker’ will begin filming in May. The process will take a long time of 2024, so much so that the team plans to finish filming around the arrival of Christmas of this year. This opens the door to its premiere in the second half of 2025, at best.
Before ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 there will be a movie from the DC universe
Gunn himself said last October that Season 2 of Peacemaker would arrive after ‘Superman’. Taking into account that said film is scheduled to premiere in July 2025, we’re looking at a release window between Fall and Winter of the same year.
As is expected, DC’s plans were also altered by the strike of writers and actors that hit Hollywood. A few months of downtime in which Gunn’s mind continued to outline the script for Cena’s new stage. Their new plan will take them to the filming set in a matter of a month.
There was a bit of a commotion in 2022 when the merger of Warner with Discovery occurred. Some of the productions in development ceased with the change of hands. But ‘Peacemaker’ was not among them. Gunn was blunt on social media: Season 2 was safe and sound.
