People Can Fly (Gears of War: Judgment) working on a Microsoft IP

People Can Fly is once again teaming up with Microsoft in a new exclusive development that has just begun and not much is known about it.

People Can Fly has not been sitting idly by. The creators of Gears of War: Judgment, Bulletstorm and Outriders have revealed that they are working with Microsoft on an IP already established by Xbox. Codenamed Project Maverick, the Polish team is working with a budget of between 30 and 50 million dollars.

The news comes after the release of the studio’s financial report for the last fiscal year. Among the details that appear are that the title will be a triple-A title published by Microsoft. The collaboration agreement dates from June 13, 2023, just a few days ago, so we will have to wait a few years to see it materialize.

Gears of War: Judgment, the spin-off that fans fell in love with

We have to go back ten years to see the last installment of the long-running saga on Xbox 360. Epic Games closed its stage with Gears of War by choosing People Can Fly to lead this final dance. Damon Baird and Cadet Sofia were chosen to carry the weight of the game, which reconstructed through flashbacks the moments that the squadron lived during the six acts of which it is composed.

“It is a frenetic, action-packed and very fun campaign. Chaotic, as we said, and very vertical and direct. But it doesn’t offer anything that we haven’t enjoyed in the past,” said our colleagues from Spain in their review 10 years ago. “We know what are the virtues and flaws of each and every one of the enemies we face, it doesn’t come to us from new. The good thing is that the approach and challenges are still so fun and exciting that Gears of War fans will have a great time. But those who were underwhelmed by the franchise or tired of the third installment - and there are some - are not likely to come back to the franchise with Judgment. That’s not their goal.
