Phil Spencer announces event on Xbox’s future and doesn’t deny rumors: “We’re listening”
Rumors about the possibility of Xbox publishing its games on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch could be cleared up next week.
In recent days, a strong rumor has emerged about the possibility of Xbox marketing its first-party games to other consoles. Something that has surprised many users, and it seems unlikely to see sagas like Halo, Forza, or Gears of War on PlayStation or Nintendo Switch. Still, several reputable media have reported this information and dropped names like Starfield. Now, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, has announced on social media an event next week where they will talk and give more details about the company’s future and clarify the company’s position on these leaks.
“We’re listening and we hear you. We’ve been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.,” wrote Phil Spencer on his X (Twitter) account. We can only wait for the date to get closer and learn firsthand what is happening with Xbox and the future of the brand.
The future of Xbox
If the rumors are true, it will mean an absolute change in Microsoft’s strategy regarding its games, which until now have been exclusive to its brand. The first step towards the opening was already taken a few years ago, and these titles ceased to be exclusive to its consoles to become exclusive to Xbox Game Pass, the product on which the American company is focusing all its efforts and from which you could play any of its first party titles on a PC or a device compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming. The potential sales of software and the impact of these releases on PC could be one of the reasons why, if the rumors are confirmed, Microsoft decides to take such a decisive step for the industry.
