‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ isn’t closing the door for the return of Johnny Depp
After years of back and forth, the reboot of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise was confirmed with an entirely new cast, but there might be hope for Jack Sparrow.
One of the biggest successes of Disney in recent decades was ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, the epic saga starring Johnny Depp in the role of the charismatic Captain Jack Sparrow, which featured artists of the stature of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley among many others. Could we see Depp again in the franchise? Variety has published information in which they highlight the fact that the possibility of Johnny Depp returning to the saga is still on the table.
The sources the magazine cites indicate that Disney has not yet contacted the actor, but producer Jerry Bruckheimer is preparing for any possible scenario. In what way? Developing two scripts at the same time: one in which Depp is included and one in which he is not. “Nothing has been ruled out,” declares a source close to the saga.
The future of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’
The possibility of having the most recognizable figure in the saga seems to still be on the table, but would Johnny Depp agree to return to it? The actor was recently involved in situations that could have distanced him from the role, but it’s undeniable that he became the heart of one of Disney’s highest-grossing franchises and who quickly became beloved by millions of fans around the world. Now, its future aims to revolve around multiple films as Bruckheimer highlighted at the beginning of the year, highlighting that there will be more than one reboot.
“It’s two different movies,” revealed Bruckheimer (via Entertainment Weekly). “We hope to get ‘em both made, and I think Disney agrees they really want to make the Margot one, too.”
