Play Starfield, Forza Horizon, and Fallout without an Xbox? Now it’s possible with Amazon Fire TV

The world of cloud gaming has a new huge competitor, as Xbox and Amazon have joined forces to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to a variety of Fire TV devices, starting next month.

“Today, we’re announcing a collaboration with Amazon where Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in over 25 countries can play games directly from the Xbox app on select Fire TV devices via cloud gaming, giving people even more choice in how they play their favourite games,” revealed Xbox today.

Starting next month, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and Fire TV Stick 4K models will support the Xbox app, available in over 25 countries around the world. With it, all you’ll need to start playing games is the Fire TV Stick, a Bluetooth wireless controller, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to enjoy the entire library of games included with it from the comfort of your couch.

According to Xbox themselves, the process to start playing from one of these compatible devices will be very simple. Below you’ll find the steps:

  • Simply install and launch the Xbox app from your Fire TV device.
  • Sign in with your Microsoft account to play. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll have instant access to hundreds of cloud-enabled games.
  • Not a member? No worries! You can join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for one low monthly price, or check out Fortnite without a membership.
  • Connect a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller. Controllers like the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation DualSense, or DualShock 4 controller are all compatible.
  • Start Playing!

Xbox elaborated on the collaboration by saying: “Over the past several years, we have been on a journey to deliver cloud gaming to more devices and to more people around the globe. We are excited to add Fire TV to our growing family of cloud gaming devices and eager to welcome new players into this experience.” In their own announcement, Amazon added that “this increased availability and flexibility provide an ideal jumping-on point for anyone looking to see what the buzz around cloud gaming is all about.”
