Play World of Warcraft without a subscription until August 5th: This is Blizzard's requirement

We’re putting the (war)band back together

The world of Azeroth will be renewed in a few days when The War Within, the next expansion and first part of the Worldsoul Saga trilogy, launches on August 27th. To celebrate, Blizzard is inviting players to take advantage of some free time this weekend.

Prepare for The War Within and play for free this weekend

In a blog post, Blizzard announced that from August 1-4, players will be able to enter World of Warcraft (excluding Classic) and play for free, with access to all expansions. All to get them ready to explore the new world beneath Azeroth.

The only requirement that Blizzard has set for this promotion is that you have an inactive World of Warcraft account and that you have previously had an active subscription or game time. This trial will be available until August 5th at 10:00 AM PT.  Remember that there is still a free trial available for new players that allows you to play up to level 20.

The War Within is Blizzard’s first step in celebrating 20 years of the beloved MMORPG and beginning to close the book on two decades of stories, characters, and places. This is one of the biggest challenges the studio has taken on, and we will see new mechanics like warbands and new places to explore in Azeroth.

When will World of Warcraft: The War Within?

The tenth World of Warcraft expansion, The War Within, will be released on August 26th at the following times in the United States:

  • 6:00 PM ET
  • 5:00 PM CT
  • 3:00 PM PT
