PlayStation Family: control playtime, purchases, and more from your cell phone

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the launch of PlayStation Family, a new mobile app designed to help parents and guardians manage their children’s gaming experience more easily and conveniently. The app is now available for free for iOS and Android devices on the App Store and Google Play Store.

The app centralizes all the parental control features already available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles. This means that parents now have complete control over their children’s accounts directly from their phone, without having to access the console. This approach not only simplifies the initial setup, but also allows parents to stay on top of their children’s gaming anytime, anywhere, reinforcing PlayStation’s commitment to a safer gaming environment for all ages.

Real-Time Control and Monitoring

The PlayStation Family app has several features designed to give parents peace of mind. One of the most important features is the ability to receive real-time notifications about the games their children are playing. This goes hand in hand with daily and weekly activity reports, which provide a clear overview of playtime, allowing parents to make informed decisions.

In addition, the app makes it easier to manage playtime by allowing parents to set daily time limits and approve or reject requests for additional time directly from their mobile devices. For purchases, the app also allows parents to manage spending, add funds, and set monthly spending limits for the PlayStation Store. In terms of content, the tool allows you to set automatic or custom filters to ensure that content is age-appropriate, and also offers options to customize children’s privacy and social interactions.

The PlayStation Family app is available for devices running iOS 14 and Android 8 or later, and can be downloaded for free from app stores.
