PlayStation Showcase 2023 summary: Everything announced

This afternoon PlayStation gave us a glimpse into the future of its console with more than 30 titles coming in the coming weeks, months and years.

After almost a year without a formal PlayStation showcase, console fans finally got a glimpse of what’s to come in the coming months. Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, made a brief appearance and mentioned that “developers are just scratching the surface” of what can be done with the console, and the titles shown below are proof of that.

Fairgame$

At the beginning of the presentation we had our first look at Fairgame$, the title of Haven, the studio founded by Jade Raymond. The title, although not showing any gameplay, shows an anarcho-hacker concept where there will be robberies to steal from the rich.

Helldivers II

With another funny and ironic trailer, we had the return of Arrowhead’s title, Helldivers, which will take us with squads of 4 players to face alien creatures and obtain resources for Super Earth. Keep in mind that not all Helldivers will survive.

Immortals of Aveum

Part of the EA Originals titles, this shooter with magic makes its appearance, showing its bloodless action and a bit of its story. Immortals of Aveum arrives on July 20th.

Ghostrunner II

505 Games presents the sequel to their indie hit.  In addition to katanas, we add motorcycles and adrenaline pumping levels. The title will arrive in 2023 without a specific date.

Phantom Blade 0

From Cruelman Studio we have this awesome ninja game that features great cinematics, fast-paced action and agile combat. Phantom Blade is coming to PS5 and has no specific release date.

Sword of the Sea

GiantSquid is back with what seems to be the spiritual sequel to Journey with this impressive and visual game where we will surf in the sand and swim with dolphins... all in a very special way.

The Talos Principle 2

One of the best puzzle games of the last 20 years is back. The Talos Principle 2 returns this year with a bang. It arrives in 2023.

Neva

The creators of Gris present the beautiful cinematic of Neva. Although there are no gameplay details, its visual style looks stunning. Coming in 2024.

Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purrebean

Cat Quest returns in 2024!

Foamstars

Square Enix shows its colorful approach to a team shooter in this strange shooter with foam and bubbles that reminds us of Splatoon.

The Plucky Squire

This particular 2D/3D title returns to show details of its story and modalities that mix the look of a children’s book with 3D environments. The game does not have a release date yet.

Teardown

It mixes the styles of Minecraft and Lego to deliver a very interesting mix of action with explosions and chases. The game will be released later this year.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater

It was also announced that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 will include the first three installments in the series.

Final Fantasy XVI

Prior to its release, we had a new trailer of Final Fantasy XVI showing a little more of its story a few weeks before its release this June 22nd.

Alan Wake 2

We see the first details of the gameplay of Alan Wake 2, where we will take control not only Alan, but also an FBI agent. October 17, 2023.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Since its presentation last year, we finally have Assassin’s Creed back, showing a bit of Basil’s story and his path as an assassin. Mirage will be released on October 12.

Revenant Hill

Revenant Hill is the new game from the creators of Night in the Woods. Another indie classic that now returns with a kind of spiritual sequel. New chapters are waiting for us with the most famous cats of the video game.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink

Granblue Fantasy: Relink really did show up at the PlayStation Showcase, but we didn’t get a release date.

Street Fighter VI

Capcom shows a short trailer focusing on the game’s story mode, where a new generation will meet the legends of Street Fighter. Street Fighter 6 will be released on June 6.

Ultros

The game is a side-scroller with melee combat elements that takes players to an alien planet that harbors an evil entity called Ultros.

Tower of Fantasy

Tower of Fantasy announces jump to PlayStation 5.

Dragon’s Dogma II

After many years, we finally see Capcom’s mythical Dragon’s Dogma II. This trailer presents details of its characters, monsters and story in great detail.

Five Nights at Freddy’s Help Wanted 2

A teaser that didn’t show much, but made it clear that there will be more Five Nights at Freddy’s to come.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake is back and shows its first images of the virtual reality mode. It’s still in development, but it looks spectacular.

Arizona Sunshine II

A zombie shooter for VR2, we don’t know yet how it will look like in real time, but it promises a lot of action and survival. It will arrive in 2023.

CrossFire Sierra Squad

Crossfire makes the leap to VR with frenetic multiplayer combat.

Synapse

We meet again with Synapse, another shooter that puts us in the mind of our victim. The title will arrive on July 4.

Beat Saber

One of VR’s favorites is back... TODAY for Playstation VR 2 along with the Queen Music Pack.

Marathon

We see what’s new from Bungie, which although it does not show much, the name is familiar to fans of the studio and shooters.

Destiny 2

And continuing with Bungie’s involvement, we have a look at The Final Shape, a new expansion that will feature a character that sounds like Pedro Pascal.

Concord

Firewalk announces its new IP: Concord. It comes for PS5 and PC. We move to science fiction in space. That’s all we know for now.

Gran Turismo

Although it is not a game, Sony took the opportunity to show a new trailer for Gran Turismo.

Project Q

Project Q is a screen to remotely play PS5 from anywhere. More details are coming soon. Also announced were PlayStation Earphones, which will also be able to connect to smartphones.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

It was a long time coming, but we finally got the first trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, showing not only new villains like Kraven and the Lizard, but also gameplay of how Peter and Miles will interact. The surprising thing is that Peter will be carrying the symbiote, something that was already anticipated with the teaser that showed Venom as the main villain. Marvel’s Spider-Man will be released in the fall of 2023.
