PlayStation turns your PS5 into a PS4, PS3, PS2 and PSX with the best tribute you will see for its 30th anniversary

An update of PS5 allows you to put the interface of all PlayStation consoles.

You come home and all you want to do is play Metal Gear Solid. On the screen of your CRT TV, the SIE logo appears next to the sound, preparing you for the world you are about to enter. It’s 1999. We are happy and we know it. But it’s just a memory that PlayStation is now bringing back to your TV for its 30th anniversary. Update your PS5 to enjoy the best tribute the brand has ever paid to its history.

This is PlayStation’s emotional tribute to its history that you can now enjoy on PS5

As soon as you update your console, you will see that the home logo has been replaced by the legendary PS colors that accompanied the PSX for years. When you get to the home page, you will see a message warning you about the customization elements that have been added to the interface. If you go directly to Settings, you will have an option to change the interface as shown in the tweet below.

Since the PSX had no interface per se, it was replaced with the original model’s chassis, but the rest is emulated by merging the old with the modern. The PS3 one even keeps the orange warnings that have always been a hallmark of the console. You can choose any of them “for a limited time”. It has not been specified until when, so some players are clamoring for the company to keep forever these customization options that so precisely target the audience that grew up with PlayStation consoles.

Is this all for PlayStation’s 30th anniversary?

PlayStation’s 30th anniversary tribute began with a series of limited-edition products that went on sale last October. Unsurprisingly, they flew off the PS Store website. We know that a demo version of Gran Turismo 7 called “My First GT” will also be released, with a nostalgic selection of cars and tracks at no extra cost to all PS5 and PS4 players. In addition, much of the console catalog is currently discounted on PS Store.

What else will be happening around December 5th? PlayStation still has a lot to say, so keep an eye out for what’s coming soon.
