Pokémon prepares for its 30th anniversary by unveiling its official logo for the celebration
Update:

This will be a very important year for Pokémon, and from the first chime of 2026, Japan is more than ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the franchise’s inception. A short trailer has been released on social media, striking a nostalgic chord and revealing the official logo for this celebration.

The video shows us Pikachu as we first met him in 1996, a chubby electric mouse with attitude. In the short video, Pikachu plays with a Poké Ball to show how the character has evolved over the years, from his early pixelated days on the Game Boy to the current era on the Nintendo Switch.

The following message accompanies the video: “Pokémon’s 30th anniversary is here! It’s been 30 years since the release of Pokémon Red and Green. Pokémon will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Friday, February 27, 2026. This is going to be the best year ever! Stay tuned!”

Although there are no details about how the celebration will unfold throughout the year, there are two key dates. First, February 27, which has traditionally become Pokémon Day with a special broadcast related to the franchise’s upcoming releases. On the other hand, August will take us to San Francisco for the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, which will not only give us a special tournament that will culminate in the Chase Center for its finals, but we will also have the opportunity to have a parallel event for fans called Pokémon XP. What surprises will we have along the way? We’ll have to wait and see.
