From all of these revealed cards, we can deduce that Shining Revelry is a set that will both appeal to the nostalgia factor with the return of many of the franchise’s most iconic and fan-favorite Pokémon, such as Pikachu or Charizard, and serve to update the card game with creatures from the most recent games in the saga, the Scarlet and Violet Editions, on Nintendo Switch.
Shiny Revelry’s most important cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and how they could affect the metagame
Two of the newly revealed cards, the Charizard ex and Lucario ex Retrains in both their standard and shiny versions, suggest that Fire and Fighting decks could become very relevant in the new metagame. Charizard Ex has two moves: Poker, which allows it to bind 3 Fire Energies from Energy, and Steam Artillery, a move that deals 150 damage and requires three Fire Energies and two of any other color. This is an interesting strategy that makes Charizard ex viable in a different way than its Genetic Apex version, and may even make it independent of Moltres ex to speed up the strategy, which is also influenced by coin flips.

Lucario ex, on the other hand, allows us to damage Pokémon that are considered “safe” in the opponent’s Bench thanks to its unique move: Aura Sphere, which deals 100 HP of damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon, but also 30 points to a Pokémon in the opponent’s Bench of our choice. It is an attractive option to consider, and it has good synergy with Supporter cards that give us control over which Pokémon are in our opponent’s Active Bench, such as Sabrina and Cyrus. In other words, a deck like this Lucario ex would reach its full potential with a control strategy, rather than relying solely on brute force.
