Pokémon TCG Pocket announces Shining Revelry, next miniset featuring shiny Pokémon and Pokémon from Paldea

Pokémon TCG Pocket has already set a release date for its next miniset, Shining Revelry, which will introduce both Shiny Pokémon and Pokémon from the Paldea region to the popular game. This expansion will be available on Thursday, March 27th, and like the previous ones, will drastically affect the metagame with the introduction of new cards that will allow for new strategies of all kinds. Below, we review what was shown in the official announcement, which gives us a rough idea of what to expect.

This is Shining Revelry, the new mini set for Pokémon TCG Pocket, available March 27th

The makers of Pokémon TCG Pocket have announced the next expansion for the mobile card game, titled Shining Revelry. True to its name, one of the main new features of the miniset is the introduction of Shiny Pokémon to the game. As usual, these new cards will not simply feature Pokémon already in the game with different colors or artwork, but several of the Shiny cards are actually retrains of existing Pokémon, such as Charizard ex or Lucario ex. In other words, they have different moves than in previous versions. As if that weren’t enough, the Shiny also have a new exclusive rarity for the first time. Check out the official trailer below:

This set is an A2b, which means it is a miniset or small expansion in the style of Triumphant Light or Mythic Island. New Pokémon include Charizard ex Shiny, Lucario ex Shiny, Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom. Paldea’s Starter Pokémon, such as Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, are also included. Among the new Partisan cards, we also saw Red and Iono. In short, this mini-expansion is as much about nostalgia for the classic games as it is about revisiting Scarlet & Violet, the most recent main titles in the series.

Finally, at the end of the trailer, new Ex Starter Deck Missions are announced, which will be available from Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 23:00 PDT until Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 22:59 PDT. As the name implies, these are tutorials that focus on different decks with different former Pokémon as the main card, allowing us to learn more about the new metagame while earning XP and resources for our account, as well as Deck Coupons that can be redeemed for one of these nine Starter Decks.

With the release of Shining Revelry, Pokémon TCG Pocket continues its monthly releases to keep the community interested in the game and encourage a diverse metagame. The arrival of new cards will allow for new strategies that will breathe life into the competitive side of this popular free-to-play mobile title, while collectors will continue to fill their virtual albums with new Pokémon. The new features seem to be enough to keep fans happy, but only time will tell what the real impact of this expansion will be on the video game.
