Pokémon World Championships 2024: A visit to the History Museum

A museum dedicated to the best.

It seems like a short time ago, but the history of the Pokémon World Championships goes back a long way. Since 2004, the tournaments have experienced exponential growth, moving from hotel and resort conference rooms to massive convention centers across the United States and, in recent years, to Europe and Asia.

After 20 years of existence, the Pokémon World Championships History Museum is one of the spaces that opened at the 2024 edition of the Pokémon World Championships. Although small, it has details for anyone interested in the history of the tournament, and its exhibition aims to show visitors the history of the competitions.

What can I see at the Pokémon World Championships History Museum?

Visitors to the Pokémon World Championships History Museum can take a brief tour through the history of these tournaments. Through a series of timelines, it celebrates not only what happened at each event, but also the history of Pokémon. Upon arrival, we encounter a timeline that shows the history of the tournament from 2004 in Orlando, Florida to this year’s tournament. This timeline shows where the tournament has been held, the years and some of the new features that have been added, as well as the evolution of the logos and eye-catching designs that have appeared over the years.

On the other hand, we have a line where we can see some of the kits that the competitors have received over the years. The backpacks, pins, and some accessories that the tournament participants have received over the years. There are also showcases where you can see some of the decks and accessories used in the Trading Card Game. Finally, and this is the showcase that many would like to visit, there are the Pikachu and Friends plush toys.

On another side of the room, we came across a very important timeline featuring each of the mainline Pokémon titles. From Red, Blue and Yellow on the Game Boy to Scarlet & Violet on the Nintendo Switch. A real stroll through nearly 30 years of the franchise.

Finally, the tour also includes a small forum where short documentaries of less than 5 minutes talk about the key moments of the event. What was the first Pokémon GO Championship like in London 2022? What happened in Nashville 20218? How did the legend of Se Jun Park’s Pachirisu come to be in 2014? You can see all of this and more.

Something that is surely missing would be a mural with the winners of each tournament or something that would also show the presence of those who have won glory in this tournament.

The Pokémon World Championship 2024 will take place from August 16th to 18th, 2024. Don’t miss any of the tournament details on Meristation.
