Pokémon World Championships 2024: All the schedules and activities around the event

Hawaii awaits competitors who want to be the best at Pokémon, as well as spectators who want to get more involved with the franchise.

The 2024 Pokémon World Championships are just around the corner, bringing together the world’s best competitors to lift the trophy and be recognized as the best in their field. Despite the three days of battles, the event, organized by The Pokémon Company, is packed with activities. So let’s take a look at everything that will be happening at the Hawai’i Convention Center and the surrounding area in this huge program for competitors and spectators.

2024 Pokémon World Championships - Ceremonies and Competitions Date and Schedule

Opening Ceremony

The 2024 Pokémon World Championships will begin with the Opening Ceremony, which will kick off the competition. This will be streamed on the official Twitch and YouTube channels and will begin at the following times on August 16:

  • 9:00 AM HAST
  • 12:00 PM PT
  • 2:00 PM CT
  • 3:00 PM ET

Pokémon TCG Competition

The Pokémon TCG Tournament is the main event of the event and will run from Friday through Sunday. It will also be available on the official Twitch and YouTube channels with the following schedule:

  • Friday, August 16 - 9:45 am to 8:45 pm
  • Saturday, August 17 - 9:00 am to 7:30 pm
  • Sunday, August 18: Starting at 10:15 am

Pokémon Video Game Competition

Along with the TCG, the video game is one of the main attractions. It will also take place from Friday to Sunday and can be watched on the Twitch and YouTube channels at the following times:

  • Friday, August 16 - 9:45 am to 20.15 pm
  • Saturday, August 17th - 9:00 am to 19.00 pm
  • Sunday, August 18 - Starting at 2:15 pm

Pokémon GO Competition

Niantic’s mobile title will be present on all three days and, like the other competitions, can be seen on the official Twitch and YouTube channels at the following times:

  • Friday, August 16, from 9:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 18: Finals start at 9:00 a.m.

Pokémon Unite Competition

Finally, the Pokémon MOBA competitions will be held in just two days, and unlike the other broadcasts, they will be held on the game’s Twitch and YouTube channels at those times:

  • Friday, August 16, from 9:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 17, from 9.00 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.

Closing Ceremony

All things must come to an end, and the Closing Ceremony, where all champions will be awarded, will take place on Sunday, August 18th. More announcements from the franchise, as well as the next location, will be announced in this space.

Pokémon World Championships 2024 - Non-competition events

If there’s one thing we’ve learned after two years of attending the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, it’s that it’s about more than just the competition, and it’s slowly but surely become a festival for fans of the series. This year, there are several activities for those lucky enough to have a spectator pass, as well as for fans and the curious who want to soak up a bit of the Pokémon world. Let’s take a look at these activities.

Inside the Convention Center

  • Pokémon Center Pop-Up Shop - Trainers can look for the Pokémon Center Pop-Up Shop located on the third floor of the Hawai’i Convention Center from August 14 to 18, 2024.
  • Animation Screenings - Sit back and watch the latest episodes of Pokémon Horizons The Series, or take a look back in time with Pokémon: The First Movie.
  • Autograph Sessions - A chance for fans to meet real-life Pokémon VIPs, from The Pokémon Company executives to Trading Card Game artists.
  • Collecting and Trading Corner - If you’re looking to trade with other Trainers or check out their collections, this is the place for you.
  • Genki Ball - In collaboration with the Genki Ala Wai Project, you’ll learn how to make your own Genki Ball and find out more about this project to clean up the Ala Wai Channel.
  • Pokémon World Championships Museum - Celebrate the tournament’s history in a collection of decks, video games, and artifacts that have shaped the event.
  • Trading Room - Whether you’re a passionate collector, enthusiast, or just looking for unique items, this is the place to shop.
  • Pokémon Trading Card Game Demo - Get a sneak peek at the upcoming mobile experience, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket.
  • Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest Gallery - Check out the 100 semi-finalists in the “Magical Pokémon Moments” illustration contest.
  • Side Events - Throughout the weekend, attendees can participate in small contests to win great prizes in the various games. Schedules and games can be found here.

Inside Hilton Hawaiian Village

  • Dazzling Skies with Pikachu & Friends - One of the most exciting moments in Yokohama was the drone show, which is being repeated this time with a new show.
  • Pokémon Play Lab - To be the best, you have to start in one place. At the Pokémon Play Lab, you can take your first steps as a Pokémon Trainer with guided demos.
  • Pokémon Worlds Trainer Town - Located on the Village Green and Great Lawn at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Trainer Town will feature even more activities. Character meet and greets, autograph sessions, games and more.
  • Shadowlees Podcast Live - RealBreakingNate, SuperDuperDani, and Jordan Fringe, three Pokémon TCG content creators, will record their podcast with a live audience.
