Update:

The Pokémon universe will make the definitive leap into reality on February 5, 2026. Located in the green hills of Tama, within the iconic Yomiuriland amusement park in Tokyo, Japan, PokéPark KANTO will be the first permanent outdoor space designed for fans to experience their own odyssey. Covering more than 26,000 square meters, this venue is not just a collection of rides; it is a living ecosystem where exploration and photo opportunities take center stage. We already had the opportunity to visit it to give you our impressions of what this experience will be like.

What experiences await us in PokéPark KANTO?

The park is divided into two main areas: Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town. The forest is a 500-meter route that invites visitors to walk along rocky paths, through tunnels, and over tall grass to observe and photograph more than 600 Pokémon in their “natural” habitat. The interesting thing here is that, despite being artificial, the vegetation looks very realistic and is perfect for taking photos with our favorite Pokémon. On the other hand, Sedge Town will be the social heart of the park, where you will find everything from the Pokémon Center to gyms with live shows. Here, we suggest you keep an eye on the ground, as you will find unexpected surprises, such as other details that have become iconic for Pokémon in recent years.

To enjoy yourself to the fullest, it’s essential to understand the park’s layout:

  • Main attractions: You can ride Pika Pika Paradise, an electric experience with more than 30 Pokémon, or enjoy Vee Vee Voyage, an incredible carousel.
  • Close encounters: At Pokémon Playhouse, you can meet different creatures (which are still a surprise) in photo sessions that rotate daily.
  • Themed cuisine: At the Poké Mart, you can buy iconic drinks from the games, as well as ice cream shaped like the characters.
  • There will also be mini-games. For example, we tried one where we threw rings to catch different Pokémon.
  • And without a doubt, the best part is the Pokémon Daisuki Shop, which has a wealth of merchandise that will drive more than one fan crazy.

How will the tickets work and what benefits do they offer?

Ticket sales began in November 2025 through a lottery system for the first few months. The Pokémon Company has designed three levels of access tailored to the needs of each visitor: the Town Pass (town only), the Trainer’s Pass (town and forest), and the coveted Ace Trainer’s Pass.

The latter is undoubtedly the best option for those seeking the full experience, as it includes priority access to attractions, reserved seats at the main show at the Sedge Gym, which incidentally has unique Pokémon designs on its walls and another surprise in the seats that will delight more than a few, as well as the possibility of re-entering the forest area as many times as you like. It is important to note that the forest area requires a basic level of physical fitness (there are more than 100 steps) and, for safety reasons, children under the age of 5 are not allowed to enter.

Why is this park a must-see on your next trip to Japan?

Beyond nostalgia, the best thing is the level of immersion. Unlike other parks where you are just a spectator, here you become part of the world. Integration with an official app will allow you to manage your time, participate in events, and collect digital memories as you walk around. To say that every step is filled with nostalgia, surprises, and discoveries for fans of the series is an understatement. It’s a full-day excursion that combines the outdoors with state-of-the-art entertainment, ideal for both families and veteran collectors who have grown up with the series since 1996.
