‘Predator: Badlands’ is the next entry for the sci-fi franchise, and it’s already started filming
The Xenomorphs have had their time, it’s now the age of the Yautja. A new Predator movie is currently in production, taking the series far off into the future.
A classic of action and science fiction cinema is back in the news. ‘Predator: Badlands’ begins its production, as reported by the site specialized in the franchise, AvP Galaxy, and is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the director of the incredible ‘Prey’, the last film in the franchise that turned out to be a success with both the public and critics despite not having been released directly in theaters.
The story of ‘Predator: Badlands’ will follow two sisters who are very different and whose family ties will be tested throughout the film. Elle Fanning takes on the leading role for the movie and, unlike the previous film in the saga, this one will be set in the future, thus showing us a new front of action in the franchise.
Myths of science fiction cinema that are still very present
The recent premiere of ‘Alien: Romulus’ and the success at the box office as well as the good reviews garnered demonstrate that two of the most recognizable creatures in science fiction cinema are still relevant.
The last film in the saga was ‘Prey’, released directly on Hulu in 2022 and which surprised thanks to its incredible production quality, a protagonist that stands out, and great pace. In the Meristation review, the film was rated as the best “just behind the original.” In addition, it was emphasized that “this film is both a tribute to veteran fans and an ideal gateway for newcomers.”
