Project L, the League of Legends fighting game, now has an official title and release window
The Riot Games 2v2 fighting game based around League of Legends characters, so far known as Project L, has just got its official name.
After a few years deep in development with only a codename to identify it, Riot Games is finally ready to set a release window to the fighting game so far only known as Project L, as well as an official name.
Titled “2XKO”, the Riot Games fighter is coming together nicely, as showcased by the developers throughout the past few months. The 2v2 tag-team fights of the game bring togethers several champions from Runeterra, the universe where League of Legends (and Arcane) take place. According to the announcement, the game is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S at some point during 2025, but it will be available to play for attendees of EVO Japan this April.
The team behind 2XKO is also planning on having several testing periods, for which you can register on their official website. The game already has very active social media accounts on Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, where it is expected that more updates will be revealed as we get closer to release.
Warriors of Runeterra
The fighting game is another of a line of spinoffs developed by Riot Games from their highly successful MOBA. In 2XKO you’ll be able to play as a variety of characters from the original game, all with their own reimagined movesets and abilities focused on bringing their skillsets to a 2D action dueling title. So far we’ve seen Ekko, Ahri, Darius and Jinx as the main 4 fighters, but we also know that Yasuo will be part of the official roster.
2XKO will be a free-to-play title, but no details have been revealed about how its monetization will be structured or just how the format will work for the title.
