PS5 Pro has “the best image quality” ever on consoles, according to Digital Foundry tests

The technical wizards at Digital Foundry have tested the PS5 Pro in-depth, and they’re convinced that it’s capable of producing the best graphics on console ever.

PS5 Pro, the technical refresh of the PlayStation 5, is now available around the world and many users are waiting to see what it is capable of, especially when it comes to games. Although the new console has already demonstrated its power with a selection of titles whose improvement patches are already available, as is the case with Horizon Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games’ most recent game. So much so, that according to Digital Foundry, Horizon Forbidden West offers “the best image quality” ever seen in a console.

“It’s like playing on a high-end PC”

According to the tech wizards of the YouTube channel, Horizon Forbidden West is the greatest technical reference of any console so far, comparing its performance to that of high-end PCs: “They have probably achieved the best image quality ever seen in a console game. It’s really good. When you consider the density of the graphics and the amount of detail they contain, the way it is displayed is so clear and attractive that it is honestly impressive. It’s like playing on a high-end PC”.

Additionally, we must keep in mind that Horizon Forbidden West does not take advantage of PSSR rescaling technology exclusive to PS5 Pro, but uses its own techniques developed by Guerrilla Games to take full advantage of the power of the new version of PlayStation 5. All in all, the Horizon Forbidden West patch for PS5 Pro offers a graphical leap remarkable, very far from the standard PS5 version:

“The PS5 Pro patch achieves a leap that the original modes did not offer, especially the standard and updated performance modes. It’s light years away from that”.
