Following the success of Punisher: Red Band, Benjamin Percy returns with a story full of explicit violence.

Update:

In just five chapters, Benjamin Percy has managed to convince Marvel that Frank Castle is worth bringing back. The limited series Punisher: Red Band saw the author of the recent Predator crossovers with Marvel bring the Punisher back to prominence with the explicit violence expected of the character, and sales have spoken for themselves. Percy will now be responsible for writing a regular series that will launch in the US in February 2026, with artwork by Brazilian artist Jose Luis Soares.

Announced by C.B. Cebulski, current editor-in-chief at Marvel, this series will pick up directly where Punisher: Red Band left off, and will also bring back one of the character’s most legendary villains. “Punisher: Red Band was a new beginning for Frank Castle—and an unrelenting assault,” said Percy. “Now that you know we aren’t fooling around, we’re entering a new phase of storytelling that will serve both as a continuation of Red Band and a fresh start for new readers. And who better to cast as our villain—in a story about Frank picking up the broken, jagged pieces of himself—than one of the greatest Marvel baddies: Jigsaw”

The first issue of the series, which will hit US bookstores on February 25, 2026, will feature a cover by David Márquez.

Punisher returns to the big screen played by Jon Bernthal

After the character’s film debut played by Dolph Lundgren in 1989, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson took up the mantle in Punisher (2004) and Punisher: War Zone (2008). We had to wait until the second season of Daredevil (2015) on Netflix to enjoy another live-action version of the Punisher, this time played by Jon Bernthal. His performance was so well received that he enjoyed a two-season series on the platform, and we will soon see him in a special lasting just over an hour before his appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Tom Holland’s fourth film as the wall-crawler will be released on July 31, 2026.
