‘Rambo’ prequel director questions Stallone’s idea of returning rejuvenated by AI: “I’m not sure the technology is there yet to pull that off”
They have hired Noah Centineo to play the role of John Rambo in the film.

Sylvester Stallone was working on a new Rambo movie, a prequel to the first feature film. His idea was to reprise the role and use artificial intelligence to make John Rambo look younger than he did in the 1980s film. This project did not go ahead, unlike the new prequel directed by Jalmari Helander. The filmmaker has reflected on the canceled project and questioned the feasibility of Stallone returning using AI.
“I’m not sure the technology is there yet to pull that off,” he told Polygon. The director of ‘Sisu’ said he prefers to use practical special effects rather than CGI, although he does not dismiss this technology, which he also uses for his productions.

And what about Stallone in the Rambo prequel?
As for the new Rambo prequel, Millennium Media has decided to hire a new actor, so Sylvester Stallone is not involved, although he was informed of the project’s existence. The actor chosen to play this version of the character is Noah Centineo (To All the Boys, Street Fighter).
In the interview, he was asked if he would be willing to cast Stallone in the film: “I know what’s going to happen, but I can’t talk about it. I would like to do something with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I might do that. I have an idea,” he added.
Helander believes that his new ‘Rambo’ will not be “as crazy” as ‘Sisu’: “It might be a bit weird — we’ll see. I have to find a new way to approach [the action in this movie]. What’s my Rambo movie going to look like? I don’t even know myself yet. It’s something that will happen when I’m shooting.”

The filmmaker has admitted that he was not always sure about directing a film in the series: “I was asked many times, do I want to do Rambo? And I always said no. But then we had the idea of actually doing the origin story. That made me realize that I could actually do it, that I have a way in.
