Resident Evil Death Island is the greatest meeting of heroes in the series yet

The new Capcom CGI movie, Resident Evil Death Island, brings together again almost all of the main characters in the series, from Alpha and Bravo S.T.A.R.S., to rebels and unlucky cops.

With the recent release of the Resident Evil 4 remake -and its sales success with more than 4 million units sold in less than a month-, many are waiting for the premiere of the series’ next CGI film, titled Resident Evil: Death Island, which aspires to become the definitive meeting of the main protagonists of the Capcom saga. This was revealed by the first official poster of the movie that was released along with several images, showing some of the biggest names in the video game franchise together: Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers.

The protagonists of the games working together

This is how Bloody Disgusting revealed the news, sharing these first images of the movie that you can find below, after the first teaser trailer a little over two months ago. It’s a little bit surprising to see all these protagonists of the Capcom video games together, who apparently will have to join forces (some for the very first time in the canon) to face a fearsome threat on the island of Alcatraz.

Directed by Eiichiro Hasumi (Assassination Classroom) alongside Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass), Resident Evil: Death Island is a direct sequel to Resident Evil: Vendetta. While Leon S. Kennedy is in the middle of the rescue mission of Dr. Antonio Taylor, a mysterious woman crosses his path. On the other hand, Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco. Their paths will cross with the rest of the protagonists with a single objective: to discover what is hidden on the island of Alcatraz together with the rest of the team made up of Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers.

Resident Evil: Death Island is scheduled to premiere in Japan the next July 7, 2023; At the moment there is no release date in America.
