At a glance: ‘Resident Evil’ will hit theaters on September 18. Directed by Zach Cregger, the film features an original story set in the franchise’s universe, separate from the classic characters and focused on a more intimate and direct experience.

The story begins with the viewer on what seems like a routine night that soon descends into utter chaos. The protagonist, Bryan, is a medical courier tasked with delivering an urgent package to a remote hospital. What begins as a minor job quickly reveals itself as the trigger for a chain of catastrophic events: upon arriving at his destination, the character finds himself trapped in the midst of a biological outbreak that transforms the environment into a hostile space dominated by mutated creatures and an invisible threat that spreads uncontrollably.

Austin Abrams (Bryan) leads the cast as the medical courier caught in the midst of a biological outbreak, the central figure of the story. Joining him are Paul Walter Hauser (Carl), Zach Cherry (Dave), Kali Reis (Pauline), and Johnno Wilson (Max), among others.
