Resident Evil Requiem reveals new gameplay details during the Resident Evil Showcase
Capcom details dual gameplay styles, new zombie behaviors, and technical upgrades during its latest showcase.

Capcom unveiled a wave of new details about Resident Evil Requiem during today’s Resident Evil Showcase. Presented by director Koshi Nakanishi, the reveal showed how the next entry balances the series’ survival-horror roots with the action that has defined it for years.
Nakanishi emphasized that veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy and a new survivor Grace offer vastly different gameplay experiences to satisfy all types of fans. Grace’s segments are designed to evoke the claustrophobic terror of Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 remake. Players controlling Grace will find themselves trapped in enclosed spaces with extremely limited resources, forcing them to make difficult tactical choices between fighting or fleeing. Her signature weapon, a high-caliber firearm appropriately named “Requiem,” acts as a powerful but rare last line of defense. On the other hand, Leon’s path focuses on intense survival action inspired by Resident Evil 4. Leon now comes equipped with a tomahawk for parrying attacks and features a more refined gunplay system where players can even steal weapons from enemies.
Mechanics and strategic survival
One major addition is a new “personality” system for zombies. The undead retain traits from their past lives—such as former cleaners who continue obsessively tidying hallways. These behaviors aren’t just cosmetic; players can exploit them to sneak past enemies or time their attacks. A new crafting system allows items to be created using blood taken from infected enemies, adding strategic depth to combat. Players can also switch freely between two camera perspectives at any time.
The showcase also highlighted technical upgrades and collaborations. On PC, Resident Evil Requiem will support DLSS 4 and ray tracing through a partnership with Nvidia. Capcom also announced collaborations with Porsche for a custom in-game vehicle and Hamilton for limited-edition watches.
Additionally, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village Gold Editions will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside Requiem. Capcom also teased upcoming amiibo figures and a custom Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, with more details to come.
