Revolution or failure? IKEA launches its new hanging PC desk and leaves no one indifferent

IKEA’s Utvisning desk pits modern gamers against classic gamers by attaching the computer tower to the table itself so it doesn’t touch the floor.

There are two kinds of PC gamers. There are the classics, who avoid all kinds of little lights and other peripherals with a futuristic gamer design. They like things sober and elegant; they came to play, not to place a computer, which is more typical of Tiktok. On the other side of the scale are the hipsters, who are the opposite of those described above. The two sides have clashed after seeing IKEA’s latest crazy idea for a game center solution.

Here’s IKEA’s new PC desk that divides gamers

Called Utvisning, the desk features two straps on the bottom left side of the desk. Yes, you’re thinking what we’re thinking: the straps are for attaching your computer tower, so you can suspend it in mid-air. Revolution or failure? For $169.99, you get a concept that’s original, but not to everyone’s taste.

The post on Reddit’s dedicated PC gaming channel is going viral this Christmas. The original post wondered who could set up a computer like this. Some agree, such as u/HardStroke, who points out that “Every single ‘Gaming’ furniture is a total scam.” However, many others have responded that the solution is perfect for several reasons.

First and foremost is cleanliness. Keeping the tower out of contact with the ground prevents it from creating layers of dust and dirt underneath, assuming the tower itself already has legs to allow air circulation at the bottom. The second thing has to do with ventilation. The airflow will be better if there is more space between the floor and the tower. And the third is cable management. Instead of having a bunch of cables on the floor, the desk allows you to route them up so that nothing touches your legs.
