Ridley Scott revealed who the protagonist of ‘Gladiator 3’ is going to be

Between ‘Gladiator’ and ‘Gladiator 2′ 24 years have passed, but Ridley Scott is not willing to wait that long again to make a new installment of the saga. Aware of his age (86 years), the director has already started work on a third film, and recently he even confessed how much work was left to do. “I thought that not even doing ‘Gladiator 3′ I would return to the arena, but in the end, I had to do it”, he declared to Total Film magazine.

In an interview with MeriStation, the same one in which we explained what will be the only historical flaw of the film, the director shared who the main character of ‘Gladiator 3′ is and what the story will be about. “I am clear about the beginning and how it’ll pull on a very interesting thread”. Specifically, the question we asked him was the following: will ‘Gladiator 3′ follow the story of Lucio (Paul Mescat) or will it revolve around someone different? Thus the director answered: “The film ends with him wondering what he should do from now on and the third will be about that, about what he does.” Although brief, the answer confirms the return of the actor and puts the focus on the real historical figure on which his role is based.
