ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X price confirmed, with pre-orders now available if you can afford it

Microsoft and Asus confirm pricing for the highly anticipated handheld PC.

Update:

Microsoft and Asus have finally pulled back the curtain on the pricing for their collaborative handheld PC, the Xbox ROG Ally, confirming the device will arrive on October 16. Pre-orders are currently live for the two available models, bringing the portable gaming experience to players in 38 countries.

What prices will the Xbox ROG Ally arrive at?

The base Xbox ROG Ally (512GB) is set at $599.99, while the more powerful Xbox ROG Ally X (1TB) carries a price tag of $999.99. For those opting for the base model, it packs impressive hardware for its size, featuring an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM, and 512GB SSD storage. Pre-orders are now available through the Microsoft Store, the ASUS eShop, and various local retailers.

A dedicated experience with ‘Xbox Mode’

The primary appeal of the Xbox ROG Ally is its native ability to run Xbox games and applications, including those available through Game Pass, letting users take their entire software library wherever they go. While the device functions as a handheld Windows PC—allowing it to run other platforms like Steam, Battle.net, and GOG via its Windows 11 foundation—the new partnership introduces a significant benefit for players: a separate “Xbox mode.” Users can now boot directly into this dedicated interface, completely bypassing the need to load the full Windows operating system. This streamlined approach is designed to theoretically enhance game performance and simplify the overall experience, ensuring players spend less time waiting and more time enjoying their titles.

While these premium prices were anticipated given the device’s technical specifications and the general cost of the standard ROG Allies, the pricing lands at a challenging time for consumers, especially following Microsoft’s recent announcement of a price increase for its Xbox Series consoles.
