ROG Xbox Ally X20 announced, upgrading the formula with an OLED display to Asus’ handheld

The updated handheld introduces an OLED screen, upgraded controls, and a retro transparent design.

Update:

Just over six months after its original launch, Asus has unveiled a new version of the ROG Xbox Ally, just in time to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary.

Under the name ROG Xbox Ally X20, the upcoming device features subtle improvements, though there has been no mention of whether there will be any changes under the hood. Like other gaming handhelds, the device replaces its LCD screen with an OLED display. The display type isn’t the only thing changing, as there will also be a slight increase in size, going from the original 7 inches to 7.4 inches, delivering 1,400 nits of brightness, Dolby Vision certification, and an anti-glare coating that, according to Asus, reduces glare by 65%.

In addition, the thumbsticks will see a slight improvement, incorporating a TMR sensor designed to eliminate the dreaded drift, offering greater precision than Hall Effect sensors, while also featuring a “transforming D-pad” to switch between 4-way and 8-way input. In addition, the entire casing will now have a retro-style transparent finish, just as was used a little over 20 years ago.

Price and Release Date of the ROG Xbox Ally X20

For now, Asus has not revealed a release date or price for this device, though it will be more expensive. Beyond the improvements it will offer, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 will come in a bundle with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR glasses. Considering that these glasses, which project a 171-inch, 240 Hz screen right in front of your eyes, cost around $850, we can assume that the complete package will be priced close to $2,000.
