MCU

Sadie Sink (‘Stranger Things’) is asked about a possible role in ‘Spider-Man 4′ and her face says it all: “It’s a great character”

Sink would follow Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner (‘Game of Thrones’) as the X-Men’s Marvel Girl.

Sadie Sink

Rumors about Sadie Sink (‘Stranger Things’) possibly signing on for the MCU, specifically as Jean Grey/Phoenix, have been circulating for months, and finally came to fruition a few days ago. However, the 22-year-old actress will not be making her MCU debut in the X-Men reboot, but in ‘Spider-Man 4′, whose subtitle has yet to be finalized. This caused fans to speculate about other roles, but it seems that Sink will finally be Marvel Girl.

At least that’s what one can deduce from an interview with Happy Sad Confused in which the journalist keeps asking her about Jean Grey, while Sink, far from denying it, confirms that it’s a good role and “a great character,” even if she admits at the beginning that she has “Nothing to say about this.”

“The rumors are really cool, it’s an awesome rumor,” Sink begins. “Yeah, I know that character, It’s a great character. So that’s cool to read.” After those words, the interviewer asks her about the possibility of playing the same character for 10 years, to which she replies that it’s “super exciting,” always maintaining a smile that suggests that while she can’t say much, her body language says absolutely everything.

The mutant reboot in the MCU, yet to take shape

There is still a long way to go to enjoy the debut of the X-Men in the MCU, after the two previous sagas, one by Bryan Singer (2000) with Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry or Ian McKellen, among others. Years later, in 2011, ‘X-Men: First Generation’ would start a new universe with James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) or Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), among others, and would see two sequels, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, in addition to ‘Dark Phoenix’, in which Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark in ‘Game of Thrones’) played Jean Grey. Just a year later came ‘The New Mutants’, starring young Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik) and Maisie Williams (Wolfsbane).
