Sakamoto Days anime gets a release window on Netflix in early 2025

We already had confirmation that it was going to happen and had a release date for Japan, but fans of Sakamoto Days in the West have had to wait patiently to find out exactly when we’ll be able to enjoy the anime adaptation of Yuto Suzuki’s manga. Today, we finally get an answer.

Netflix recently shared a new trailer for the upcoming anime, which includes a release window for when we’ll be able to enjoy Sakamoto Days through the streaming platform. Earlier this year it was revealed that the anime would come to Japan on January 2025, and now it’s been confirmed that this is actually going to be a worldwide release. The anime will be premiered globally in January 2025, although we still don’t have a specific date.

What is Sakamoto Days about?

Suzuki’s manga narrates the new life of Taro Sakamoto, who was the most famous murderer within a dark society that operates in the shadows of criminal organizations and governments around the world. Sakamoto would end up retiring after finding love, marry, have a daughter, and spend his days gaining weight as a grocery store manager. However, his past eventually catches up with him and he has to put his superhuman abilities into practice again, in a manga that combines absurdity and humor with very serious moments and impressive fight choreography when you least expect it. It is not the most popular manga of its generation, and its animation seems difficult for some scenes, but it does have a well-deserved cult status, which is what makes the prospect of this series particularly interesting.
