Saros trailer makes it clear that it aims to be the spiritual sequel to one of PS5’s best exclusives

February’s State of Play brought a few surprises, but the most important one had to do with Housmarque. The parents of Returnal have confirmed their new video game. It’s called Saros and it will bring us back to the third-person roguelike around the shooter genre. The mystery is total from what can be seen in the trailer, and those responsible for it already say that it is based on the foundations of its success on PS5. It will arrive in 2026. Marathon misses State of Play and fuels Bungie’s bad momentum

2024 has not been a good year for the video game industry. Mass layoffs at major companies in the industry shook the apparent stability of the post-COVID years. Among those companies was Bungie, which laid off 220 employees in August of that year, or 17% of its workforce at the time. These numbers pointed to a culprit: Peter Parson, the company’s CEO. Numerous tweets were published on X (formerly Twitter) highlighting some questionable behavior on the part of the executive.

Its project timeline is clear. Destiny 2 found in The Final Form the conclusion of the story arc that has accompanied the game throughout its commercial cycle. The numbers were below the company’s expectations, but the reception from players was still positive. Marathon was presented in May 2023 and has remained almost two years in absolute silence, among other projects such as the mobile version of Destiny in collaboration with NetEase Games.
