Say goodbye to paying to play before others: Assassin's Creed Shadows drops the controversial feature
Many players see the paid early access as a trial balloon to test how much they are willing to pay.
The delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been one of the most talked about news in recent days, as it is one of the most anticipated games for millions of fans of the saga and although it was scheduled to arrive in mid-November, Ubisoft has finally decided to move it to Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025. A controversial decision that is directly related to Star Wars Outlaws and that is accompanied by several changes in the French company’s release policy.
One of them is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on day 1 on Steam, not only on Epic Games, although the most striking is the decision to discard the paid early access. That is, the possibility of paying more for a special edition that allows you to play several days before everyone else. This is something very common in recent years, since games like EA Sports FC 25 allow you to enjoy it a week before if you buy the Ultimate Edition and the expected Silent Hill 2 Remake, 48 hours before in the case of its Digital Deluxe Edition.
It seems that Ubisoft is betting everything on a global and simultaneous release, as the title will arrive on February 14, 2025 on all platforms and in all countries at the same time.
The story of Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place in the 16th century, at the time of the reunification of Japan by Oda Nobunaga, a historical period characterized by wars between feudal lords. In this context, the two protagonists of the adventure will develop their activities within the Order of Assassins.
