Say goodbye to PS5 30th Anniversary speculators with these unprecedented methods between gamers and PlayStation

PlayStation stands firm against speculators as gamers begin to report inflated eBay listings.

Bad times are coming for speculators. Although we have already experienced the peak of speculation with the launch of the current generation of consoles, it is only with the arrival of the limited edition PS5 for the 30th anniversary of the brand that we have witnessed another black chapter. The resale is skyrocketing, with the PS5 Pro model costing over $5000. A madness that both PlayStation and gamers are trying to curb with unprecedented methods.

The hunt for PS5 30th anniversary speculators has begun

PlayStation has put its foot down on its home turf. After the flood of requests and resales in the West, those who want to get their hands on a product of this line in Japan will have to meet some requirements: the PlayStation Network account used to make the purchase must have logged at least 30 hours of gameplay on PS4 or PS5 between February 2014 and September 2024. This is unprecedented for the publisher, which is trying to curb the nest of bots that tend to flood these types of announcements.

Closer to home, justice is being served by the players. Some users are busy reporting ads that speculate on these products. Such listings violate the platform’s terms of use, as it is impossible to sell a limited edition product at a price higher than the official MSRP before it goes on sale. eBay accepts the reports and knocks down the ads accordingly, causing real problems for those who wanted to do business at the expense of nostalgia.
