Secret Invasion marks the return of Marvel to Disney+, why now?
Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, has revealed why Marvel chose Secret Invasion as its next release on Disney+ after months without any other productions.
Between the end of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and the arrival of Secret Invasion, the newest Marvel series, many months have passed. During a press conference in which the production was presented, Kevin Feige answered questions from journalists. One of these was about why the series had been chosen to fill that void.
The head of Marvel Studios opened up and did not hesitate to answer that Secret Invasion will be released shortly because it is a finished product: “Now is the time because it is finished and ready to go”, he responded between laughs. “It was ready,” he added.
Nick Fury has changed
At the same press conference, Samuel L. Jackson reflected on his character, Nick Fury, whom he has played for over 15 years. After what happened with Thanos, he has appeared in two more productions, but this one focuses specifically on the character: “He’s been out for a while,he’s a little tired and he’s a little vulnerable, but he returns to Earth because he has been summoned. We’ll see what happens.”
The actors joked about the secrecy surrounding Secret Invasion and have been careful not to talk too much. “I can’t remember anything about this, you’ll have to see and wait,” said Olivia Coleman. “Sonya works for the M.I.6. and she likes to wear red, she’s quite funny and potentially not so likable at times.”
Secret Invasion will premiere on June 21 on Disney+. It is a thriller that continues to delve into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The idea of Bob Iger, head of Disney, is to prioritize quality over quantity, although his plans have been disrupted due to a writers’ strike. Everything seems to indicate that the production of Daredevil: Born Again has been paralyzed.
