Yacht Club Games, the video game studio that created Shovel Knight, held a presentation where they talked about the franchise’s future and showed off some new features that are coming soon. Yacht Club Games Presents was the event where the sequel to one of the best indies in history was announced, a title that was not shown, but which gave several clues as to what is to come.

Regarding the sequel, Yacht Club Games has stated that “We’re committed to crafting an experience that not only honors the Shovel Knight legacy but also pioneers groundbreaking, innovative gameplay mechanics. This isn’t just another sequel — it’s a bold new adventure that will launch Shovel Knight into an entirely new dimension of gaming. We’re not quite ready to unveil everything just yet, rest assured, the game will bring electrifying action, richer mechanics, and all the timeless charm you expect from a Shovel Knight title. It’s been four years in the making because we’re dedicated to perfecting every pixel and ensuring that the innovation will redefine what a Shovel Knight game can be.”

The future of Shovel Knight

One of the details that most surprised the public was that Yacht Club Games released a teaser with the company’s logo in 3D, a real novelty and that could mean that the sequel to Shovel Knight will be in 3D or at least mix 2D and 3D with moments of real innovation at a mechanical level, as they highlighted in their press release. Additionally, Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX was also announced. This is an enhanced version of the game that will include all the expansions released over the years and outstanding additions such as a total of 20 playable characters. It also includes an online multiplayer mode to share the adventure and its challenges with others.

They also revealed more about Mina the Hollower, their upcoming game with gameplay and style inspired by a system as popular as Game Boy Color.
