Shuhei Yoshida reveals his favorite games from all of Sony and PlayStation history
As he prepares to exit the company after 31 years on the job, Ex-CEO of SIE Worldwide Studios and PlayStation Legend Shuhei Yoshida shares his favorite games.
There’s no denying that Shuhei Yoshida is one of the most recognizable faces in the video game industry. As part of the initial team that made the PlayStation what it is today, and part of the leadership of the brand for over 30 years, the former president of SIE World Studios (now PlayStation Studios), the executive has helped shape the brand into what it is today. So the announcement that he’s leaving the company on January 15, 2025 came as a bit of a surprise.
“I’ve been with PlayStation from the beginning, and this is my 31st year with PlayStation,” said Yoshida in a PlayStation blog and podcast. “And when I hit 30 years, I was thinking, hmm, it may be about time for me to move on. You know, the company’s been doing great. I love PS5, I love the games that are coming out on this platform. And we have new generations of management who I respect and admire. And I’m so excited for the future of PlayStation.”
His announcement came as part of a larger podcast in which he chatted about his time with PlayStation, and his feelings about the entire situation and the company. Among those thoughts, Yoshida also revealed a list of his favorite PlayStation games of all time, and it turns out it’s one that reaches far and wide through the history and library that the company has helped publish and develop.
