Silent Hill 2 Remake photos hide a twisted secret already uncovered by fans
One of the new collectibles added by the Bloober team hides a message that the community has already uncovered.
The success of Silent Hill 2 Remake is palpable. You only have to read our opinion to understand the magnitude of a comeback that has been accomplished with flying colors. Among the many additions introduced by the Bloober team are the photos. At first, you might have thought they were a coded message from Mary, but what they actually hide is something much more sinister.
Here’s the real secret behind the Silent Hill 2 Remake photos
A Reddit user named u/DaleRobinson has managed to translate what the studio wanted to convey to its fans with this collectible. Each photo has a little message attached to it, along with some visual clues in the location where it was taken. Taking these into account and linking them to what is being conveyed, the text between the lines is a clear message to the protagonist that links back to the original title.
“You’ve been here for two decades.” What does that mean? It means that James Sunderland, the protagonist, has been trapped in a loop of remorse for 20 years, the same decades that separate the release of the two games.
It’s a nice nod to the original work of Konami and Team Silent, but it also takes on a special significance given the game’s backstory: has James really been trapped all this time, and is the ending we see just the starting point for his new foray into Silent Hill? The answers are still up in the air, but it’s clear that all is not as it seems.
Silent Hill 2 is available for PS5 and PC.
