Update:

The modernized retelling of James Sunderland’s haunting story, Silent Hill 2 Remake, developed by Bloober Team and Konami, is preparing to expand its player base. Now, nearly a year after its initial launch, the game appears set for release on the Xbox Series X/S console.

Key details point to imminent xbox launch

Evidence for the upcoming Xbox launch is concrete: the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), the video game classification body in the United States, has already added a rating for Silent Hill 2 Remake on Xbox Series X/S to its public database. This is a crucial step in the industry, as a game is typically classified when its release is quite close, suggesting that an official announcement from Konami or Microsoft is imminent.

The initial launch date of October 2024 for both PlayStation 5 and PC established a clear, one-year temporal exclusivity on consoles. Fans of the survival horror genre have been anticipating the arrival of the game on Microsoft’s console around this time.

Silent Hill 2 Remake, a technical feat

Released last year, Silent Hill 2 Remake proved to be more than initially expected. The work done by Team Bloober ended up convincing even the most skeptical about what could be seen in its first trailers. So much so that in our technical test of the game, we mentioned: “Whether in the normal or OLED version, the game gives over 30 FPS and is fully playable in the native resolution of 1280 x 800, activating the FSR 1.0 with the default settings in quality and the predefined settings of rendering quality at the lowest, even comes at times to exceed the average of 40 FPS. On the other hand, if you select the performance mode, you can even brush up to 60 FPS, something incredible for the type of game and graphics engine.”
