Solo Leveling, 2024’s most highly anticipated anime, reveals opening in new trailer

‘Solo Leveling’ is releasing in January, and Crunchyroll has chosen to reveal its opening theme by Hiroyuki Sawano and TOMORROW X TOGETHER through a new trailer.

The ‘Solo Leveling’ anime is just around the corner (scheduled for release on January 2024) and more and more details are coming to light about this highly anticipated adaptation. Its opening is the latest, and you can already hear it below these lines through the series’ new trailer, where it is confirmed that Hiroyuki Sawano (composer for Attack on Titan and Xenoblade Chronicle X, among many other works) will join forces with TOMORROW X TOGETHER, one of the biggest k-pop groups of the moment.

The anime’s first two episodes will be screened throughout December at various events that will take place in Tokyo, Seoul, and Los Angeles.

For those who do not know of this wonderful light novel series, here’s how Crunchyroll describes the story:

“It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. In this world of tough customers, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is known as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.” One day, Jinwoo gets fatally injured when he runs into high-rank double dungeons hidden within a low-rank dungeon. Just then, a mysterious quest window appears in front of him. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to accept the quest and starts leveling up... while the others aren’t.”

The anime is being produced by the A-1 Pictures team, with Shunsuke Nakashige as director (previously an animator on ‘Sword Art Online’, ‘Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-’ and ‘DARLING in the FRANXX’), Noboru Kimura in the role of screenwriter (‘Kemono Jihen’, ‘AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline’), Tomoko Sudo in charge of character design (‘Sword Art Online’) and the aforementioned Hiroyuki Sawano (‘Shingeki no Kyojin)’ on music. A team that will seek to live up to the legacy of the original work of Chugong and DUBU.
