‘Solo Leveling: Beyond the System’ movie announced by Crunchyroll and Aniplex at Anime Expo 2026
The feature film will continue the anime’s story beyond Season 2.
During a presentation at Anime Expo 2026, Crunchyroll and Aniplex confirmed that a new animated feature film titled ‘Solo Leveling: Beyond the System’ is currently in production. The project will serve as a direct continuation of the anime’s second season, Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadows, expanding the story beyond the constraints of the television format.
While no theatrical release window or plot specifics were disclosed, the announcement revealed the film’s official English title and debuted a teaser visual shown exclusively to Anime Expo attendees. The confirmation brings clarity to months of speculation surrounding the franchise’s future, particularly concerns that a third season might not arrive until 2027 or later.
A theatrical step for a global anime hit
The move to cinemas reflects a broader industry trend, as anime films tied to popular television series have increasingly found mainstream success worldwide. Sony-backed anime projects, in particular, have demonstrated that theatrical releases can perform well beyond their established fanbases, positioning feature films as both narrative expansions and commercial events.
‘Beyond the System’ reunites much of the core creative team behind the TV adaptation. Animation duties will once again be handled by A-1 Pictures, with a production committee that includes Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C Media, Kakao Piccoma, and Crunchyroll.
