Someone purchased $2000 worth of PS Plus subscriptions to avoid price increases for 24 years

Tired of price increases in your subscriptions? So was this one player who spent a couple thousand on PlayStation Plus to get rid of the problem.

Nobody likes paying more for the same thing they’ve been enjoying for years, especially when it can ruin your budget. Such is the pain of most people today, as entertainment has shifted their formats to monthly subscriptions, and video games are no exception. PlayStation Plus is one of those services, offering a variety of games to subscribers with a rotating collection. But price hikes are a common thing in the gaming world, and one player wasn’t having any of it.

A user on Reddit that goes by On_Reddit_In_Class revealed that they chose to take the matter into their own hands, and beat Sony to their subscriptions before the price goes up in the coming year. Specifically, in the next 24 years, the player now has an assured subscription until 2048.

“I decided to stack PS Plus subscriptions until 2048 because of the absurd price increases the past few years,” said the now legendary gamer. I figure that I’ll probably be gaming for most of my life so it would save a good bit of money. First I loaded up on Essentials subs and then upgraded it all to Premium for $199″

As they mention in their post, to save even more on the cost that it would cost them for this sort of advance payment, they had a clever tactic: First, they purchased 24 years of Essential tier, which cost $1,919.76 USD (at $79.99 per year). Then, he upgraded to Premium with an offer of 89% off, meaning that instead of paying the regular $1,889.75 for it, he only paid an extra $199.99, for a total of $2,119.75.
