‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ gets its first full trailer with confirmation of Keanu Reeves as Shadow
Keanu Reeves has been officially confirmed to be playing Shadow in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3′, alongside the returns of Jim Carrey and Idris Elba.
If a few years ago you would have told us that the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ live-action movies would become one of the biggest franchises in Hollywood, helping kickstart a renaissance of video game adaptations to the big screen and gathering some enormous names for its cast, we would have laughed in disbelief. And yet here we are, excitedly talking about the first trailer for ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3′ and the official introduction of Keanu Reeves as the mighty Shadow the Hedgehog.
This time around, Sonic and his friends will be recruited to deal with a new and mysterious threat from the past, another Hedgehog that has been on earth for a long time with incredible power, and a mysterious past. Not only will Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessy), and Knuckles (Idris Elba) form Team Sonic once again to face off with Keanu Reeves’ Shadow, but they’ll have to make an alliance with Dr. ‘Eggman’ Robotnik, played once again by a delightfully insane Jim Carrey.
‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3′ will bring back familiar faces, and present some new one, but fans are already wondering if we’ll see some other surprises. As there is a heavy influence in this third movie from ‘Sonic Adventure 2′, fans of the blue blur are already theorizing that we may see some more “alien” faces in the film, especially as the story of Shadow is so entangled with many others. We know that we’ll at least see Maria, his friend whose fate is already fuel for endless memes, and Ivo Robotnik has already been revealed in the trailer. Could we see Amy, Rouge, E-101 Beta, or perhaps… Big the Cat?!
We’ll have to wait and see when the movie releases on December 20, 2024.
