Sony has delayed ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ until 2027 for “creative reasons”

The third and final entry into the Spider-Verse trilogy has just been delayed until 2027 for creative reasons, reportedly scrapping all of the work done on it so far.

After the successes of ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, the third leg of the table for the Miles Morales animated universe was scheduled to be released sooner rather than later. However, the wait is going to have to be longer than expected; at minimum, until 2027. The reasons for this are reportedly creative differences and discrepancies around the project. According to Jeff Sneider (The Insneider) Sony has scrapped much of the film’s material and everything will have to start almost from scratch. This is a big deal for fans of the Spider-Verse saga, since the latest installments are enough to be hopeful for ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’, the closing of the trilogy.

The perfect ending to the trilogy

In 2018, ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ made an appearance in theaters and was a brutal success, grossing almost $400 million at the global box office. The premise of the multiverse and the introduction of a new hero, Miles Morales, caused a phenomenon among the public and the film was a huge success. 5 years later, in 2023, ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ was released, already considered one of this century’s best animated films. That is why the premiere of the third part of the trilogy, ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’, has been long awaited since then. However, we will have to wait until 2027 at least to enjoy the perfect closure to the trilogy.
