Sony officially announces PS5 Pro: new features, release date, and price
Announced during today’s PS5 technical presentation, The PS5 Pro is set to bring players much more power than ever before.
It’s been an open secret for months, with fans craving an official reveal, but Sony has now officially announced the existence of the PlayStation 5 Pro: the most powerful model of the console so far.
You can find the full presentation below, where Sony’s Lead Engineer for the platform took the stage to show off the new PS5 model in detail. Taking a good look back at the tech that the original PS5 launched with a few years ago, Cerny revealed that the PS5 Pro is bringing with it new graphic modes, with a substantial increase in power.
So what exactly is new in this upgraded version of the PS5? There are three main upgrades that aim to improve the performance of your games with even higher fidelity graphics at 60FPS:
Additionally, it’s been revealed that every PS5 Pro purchase will include a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed. PS5 Pro will only be available as a disc-less console, with the option to purchase the currently available Disc Drive for PS5 separately.
When will the PS5 Pro be available for purchase?
The PS5 Pro console will be ready to hit the market by this holiday season, with an official launch date on November 7, 2024. It’s releasing in several regions with the following MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price):
