Sony tests dynamic pricing on PlayStation Store with personalized discounts for select users
The A/B experiment detected by PSprices adjusts prices on more than 100 games based on purchase history.

Sony is testing dynamic pricing within the PlayStation Store in select markets. According to the PSprices price tracker, changes in the cost of more than 100 games have been detected, with discounts applied only to certain users.
According to the tracker, some players have encountered personalized prices lower than usual. This is an A/B test by Sony, focused on analyzing demand elasticity through randomly selected user groups. This test has been active for about three months and has been implemented in around 70 regions, including Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Japan and the United States are not part of the experiment.

Dynamic pricing trials on the PlayStation Store
This initiative introduces a new strategy within the PlayStation ecosystem, aimed at encouraging purchases. The model is based on dynamic prices that depend on each user’s consumption history. In practice, discounts ranging from 5% to 17.6% seek to motivate players who purchase less frequently. Although this is an incentive offered by the brand itself, many users, especially those who are loyal to the brand and purchase regularly, may feel upset that those who do not spend as much are given preferential treatment.

The tests have been applied to both first-party titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, God of War Ragnarök, Gran Turismo 7, and The Last of Us Part II, as well as games from third-party publishers such as 2K Games, Focus Entertainment, Deep Silver, Bethesda, and Rockstar.
