Sony's Helldivers 2 hits Steam and already beats Palworld on the bestseller list

Palworld, the first viral game of 2024, is already facing competition on Steam with a new title that has already surpassed it on the platform’s bestseller list. Today Helldivers II hits the stores and it seems to show that it has bigger guns and a stronger attitude to these Pals.

Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by PlayStation Studios, Helldivers 2 also marks an important milestone for Sony, as it is the company’s first exclusive release to launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC. To date, this game has surpassed Palworld as the top-selling game on Steam in the United States. In terms of global sales, the title is still surpassed by PUBG: Battlegrounds and has recently surpassed one of the platform’s greats, Counter-Strike 2, the former being a free-to-play game with in-app purchases, while the latter, in addition to having a cost, is known for the multiple skins and extras that can be purchased within the game. It is worth mentioning that currently the Super Citizen Edition and the payment to upgrade to the Super Citizen Edition are in 8th and 9th place in sales in the US.

Helldivers 2 aims to be a big hit

A sequel to the game of the same name released in 2015, it proposes us to be part of a group of three people trying to defend the Super Earth Federation from aliens and other invaders. The way to achieve this is as you can imagine: shooting everywhere, explosions, weapons of all kinds, and a significant dose of humor. A game reminiscent of movies like ‘Starship Troopers’ or mythical video game sagas like Earth Defense Force, with a third-person perspective and a cooperative gameplay that aims high from the start, this is the latest from the Swedes of Arrowhead Game Studios, known for such popular titles as the mythical Magicka or Gauntlet of 2014.
