Sony’s “Splatoon-like” Foamstars is one of PlayStation Plus Essential games in February 2024
Sony has revealed that Foamstars, the ‘Splatoon’-like game developed by Square Enix, will be one of the free games of next month available to claim for all PS Plus subscribers.
It’s still a few weeks away, but Sony has confirmed that Foamstars, the multiplayer competitive shooter developed by Square Enix that is also exclusive to PS4 and PS5, will be available to claim for free for all PS Plus subscribers starting February 6, 2024.
While not the only title that’ll be available next month for the PS Plus Essential tier, this announcements serves a double purpose as Foamstars still didn’t have an official release date before this. This means that the game will be a “day one” release for the service, and that you’ll be able to find plenty of other players from the moment the game launches. Considering that this is mainly a multiplayer title that’s great news!
Foamstars is more than just “Sony’s Splatoon”
Foamstars was announced last year during one of Sony’s State of Play showcases, and while initially it was regarded by many as simply Square Enix’s take on the Splatoon formula, it’s turned out to be that, but much more.
Kosuke Okatani, producer of the game, wrote the official blog release where this announcement was made. In it, he states that they “developed Foamstars with the concept of creating a game that everyone could enjoy. Whether you’re a player who wants to play tactically and test your skills to achieve victory, or a player who wants to just casually party with friends, you will find something to enjoy in Foamstars.”
